A New Cleanser Developed for Rosacea

A New Cleanser Developed for Rosacea: Rosacea Anti-Inflammatory Foaming Cleanser (Technical View)

We are pleased to announce the availability of a new cleanser developed for the needs of rosacea patients of all skin types and validated through clinical use (see end for details).

This new cleanser brings a new texture and especially easy method of use while meeting all the pre-requisites for appropriate cleansing for rosacea (discussed further below and in further information about rosacea cleansers).

"Rosacea Anti-Inflammatory Foaming Cleanser" contains a variety of active ingredients which lift impurities and oils, balance skin's pH, help control demodex and inflammation while hydrating without oil.

The innovative cleanser also avoids conventional surfactants (the ingredients which break down oils and other impurities but which can damage skin barrier function and cause irritation) by virtue of its packaging which aerates a liquid formula.

Rosacea Anti-Inflammatory Cleanser deep-cleans pores by removing excess oils and clears surface impurities with a tonic but non-allergenic effect, leaving the skin feeling completely refreshed and moisturized without oil.

Rosacea Anti-Inflammatory Cleanser also contains an ingredient which helps to control demodex, a mite implicated in the cause of rosacea.

To use, twice daily pump the bottle 2-3 times to produce a handful of foam and apply evenly to a dry face and neck. Do not apply to damp skin. Massage gently and rinse with luke-warm water. We suggest using the cleanser before showering for further ease in rinsing.

The product meets what we suggest as optimal characteristics for a rosacea cleanser:

Cleansers with these properties help prevent rosacea flare-ups and symptoms such as erythema (redness), burning, stinging, papules and pustules.

As with other the products, Rosacea Anti-Inflammatory Cleanser is free of paraben preservatives, known allergens and irritants and is made to order to maximize and preserve the benefits of active ingredients. Once used for the first time, use within four months.

Clinical observations and feedback during the four months the cleanser was trialed on approximately one hundred patients was promising. Most patients felt the cleanser was comparable to the pre-existing cleansers (Rosacea Oil-Free Purifying Gel Cleanser and Rosacea De-Sensitizing Cleansing Emulsion) and many felt it was easier to use.

  • Results were the most positive among those patients who had oily-prone skin prone to dryness.
  • Patients with very oily and very dry skin preferred the two cleansers above respectively however more than half felt the new cleanser was good for alternation with their usual cleanser.

The new cleanser appeared to possibly reduce facial redness slightly more than the others in the short-term, but within a month of use there was no discernible difference.

No patients developed dermatitis (eg. irritation, allergic reactions, dryness) of any description or unpleasant sensations such as stinging from use.

Pre-existing rosacea skin care and medications (topical and systemic) remained the same among the trailed patients — only the cleanser was altered.
