Is Benzoyl Peroxide Effective for Rosacea?

Is benzoyl peroxide effective for rosacea?

This is a frequent question. The matter is covered in detail under benzoyl peroxide.

In essence, benzoyl peroxide is not recommended because it exacerbates inflammation (peroxide is a free radical, and is therefore aging), destroys the skin's protective barrier (the acid mantle) and produces dryness.

Benzoyl peroxide use would counteract the benefits of antioxidants, reducing their anti-aging effects.

Other ingredients which should be avoided for similar reasons include sodium laureth sulphate, propylene glycol and parabens.
