Rosacea Cleansers

Facial cleansing is a critical component of any patient's success or failure in managing their rosacea.

Consistent use of an optimal facial cleaner helps prevent rosacea flare-ups such as erythema (redness), burning, stinging, papules and pustules.

Suitable rosacea cleansers bare the following characteristics:

By avoiding cleansers without the above properties your skin will become more consistently and evenly hydrated, less prone to dryness and a dull appearance and more receptive to the benefits of any subsequent topical rosacea medication or skin care.

Whichever cleanser you choose for your rosacea, ensure you only cleanse with tepid to cool water.

If skin is especially impure (from make-up or unsuitable skin care), or oily due to environment or heredity, the Clinic's cleansers may be massaged into dry skin before adding water to emulsify. This method produces deeper cleansing, and is safe for use irrespective of skin type or condition, otherwise conventional cleansing by applying cleanser to damp skin is indicated.

Two rosacea cleanser formulas are available:

Although both are suitable for any and all rosacea skin types, as a general rule the Rosacea Oil-Free Purifying Gel Cleanser is preferred by patients with oily, normal to combination and normal to slightly dry skin, while the Rosacea De-Sensitizing Cleansing Emulsion is preferred by patients with normal to dry, dry and very dry skin.

Finish cleansing by splashing your face and neck with cool water 5-10 times and dry by pressing 1-2 tissues flat against your skin. Alternatively, a very soft towel may be used. To curtail irritation, please avoid the use of wash cloths and drying skin by rubbing.

Rosacea De-Sensitizing Mists may be used after cleansing, in place of or in addition to splashing the skin with cool water, and are especially beneficial where rosacea symptoms are severe and where the water supply contains dissolved pro-oxidant/inflammatory minerals and chemicals such as fluoride.

For the most enhanced outcome possible, the Clinic's Rosacea Cleansers are produced in small batches and packaged in sterile glass.

The formulas are inherently bacteriostatic by formulation design and therefore require no preservatives, however please note that these products should be stored at or below 25 degrees centigrade/77 degrees fahrenheit, away from direct light, and used within four months of opening.
